The bonus offered by SSNR is that by reducing the noise from an image, the recorded file size is significantly less – by up to 70%, when using MPEG compression and 40% when using JPEG, resulting in cost savings on the size of hard drive required.

The financial benefits delivered by SSNR could therefore be substantial with end-users’ DVRs being able to record over three times more with MPEG compression and almost twice as much if JPEG compression is used.
